Hi, my name is Laura Keane and I am a BACP Accredited Humanistic and Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor. In basic terms, this means I have trained in several different types of counselling and have a variety of tools and techniques that I can use to help each individual, according to their specific requirements.

Professional Credentials

As a qualified counsellor, with almost ten years of experience, I am an accredited registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), which is the professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. To ensure that I offer you an ethical service I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework and code of ethics for Counselling professionals.

I obtained my accreditation status in 2023, which means my practice has met the BACP higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BACP Accreditation

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

  • CPCAB Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)

Alongside my private counselling practice, based in Peterborough and Stamford, I also work on a self-employed contract basis for the NHS where I provide therapy at several GP practices in the Peterborough area. I also have previous experience of working with bereaved clients from my time where I was a Bereavement Support Volunteer Counsellor at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.

Continued Professional Development Training

As part of continuing my professional registration and for my own professional and personal development I regularly attend Continual Professional Development training, which have included:-  ​

  • Monthly supervision in line with BACP guidelines.

  • I undertake regular continuing professional development (CPD) conferences, courses and workshops to keep up to date and increase my skills in order to provide the best service I can.

  • I am an accredited registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and abide by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
