How I can help you
Sometimes in life there isn't a particular problem that you can identify or want to talk about specifically, you may simply want to talk about feeling unhappy in general or confused about any feelings you might have, or just your mood in general. You don't have to be in crisis or have no emotional or mental strength left before you ask for help.
At Piece to Peace Counselling my sole focus is you, the client, and how we can work together to improve your overall well-being and make the necessary changes in your life that you may be struggling with alone. If you feel you are ready to take the next step, please get in contact for a free, no obligation, confidential chat about what I can do to help you.
My Approach
I work as an integrative therapeutic counsellor, which means I use more than one theoretical approach in my practice. I take theories and methods from different therapeutic models and integrate them in a way that aligns with my client's needs. Each person is unique, and there is no 'one size fits all' approach, therefore my aim as an integrative counsellor, is to tailor the therapy to suit each individual's requirements.

This means that should a particular approach to therapy not suit the difficulties you are experiencing, or be promoting change at the pace or direction most needed, together we can discuss and then use different ways of working. For example, depending on the issue, you may benefit from looking back at events from childhood and relationships with key figures as this can influence your personality and create behaviour patterns. This is where I would utilise my training in ‘object relations’ in order to explore how these events are impacting your life at present, or Inner Child Healing Therapy, which can be life-changing for many.

Other approaches I might use include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Attachment Theory and Existentialism. I also sometimes use mindfulness techniques, as I've found it can be an effective method for working in the present, and it also links well with CBT to challenge negative thought patterns.

In our sessions we can explore and work on issues that may be causing you pain or emotional distress. I will provide support and guidance in a safe environment where you will have the space and time to talk about your issues and explore any difficult feelings you may be experiencing. This, along with CBT techniques, should help to empower you to facilitate positive changes in your life.
Requirements can also vary from session to session and may include ‘exploring a difficult childhood’, or ‘destructive patterns of behaviour, or ‘depression and anxiety’ Together we can look at what changes you would like to make and start implementing them, using some of the techniques described above.
